ADULT COMPROMISED LUNGS
AireHealth’s portable nebulizer and companion app helps 100+ million people in the U.S. living with respiratory illness, including almost 20 million adults with asthma, approximately 15 million adults who have been diagnosed with COPD and millions more with other compromised lung conditions.
Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), respiratory viruses, pneumonia and scarred lungs are a large and growing problem in the United States. Those affected often miss work and/or school, and suffer from sleep disorders, anxiety and depression. Some, like asthma and Cystic Fibrosis (CF) have genetic components, but other conditions can develop due to factors like environmental exposures and smoking. Chronic respiratory conditions can be harder to control in adults, as other pre-disposed health conditions can occur in adulthood and as you age your lung and chest walls stiffen and the muscles become weaker. Adults with compromised lungs are at a higher risk of having flare-ups, contracting respiratory viruses and being hospitalized.
For a person who suffers from a compromised lung condition, sometimes the easiest tasks can be hard. It can be frustrating and tiring to miss out on everyday activities with friends and family, and work, because you suffered through a flare-up and didn’t catch your symptoms in time to take proactive measures.
